This Is Gonna Be Great

Purple words on a gray background.

Yes. Great.

I’ve dreamed of pictures this big on Storyteller. I never thought I’d live to see the day when my dream became reality. It’s sort of my M.O.. I have to be dragged kicking and screaming into some new world. When I get there I grumble. After a time, I think “this isn’t so bad.”

There is still a lot to learn, including where is the location of things I learned the day before. That’s okay. I’d say that I would hope it would become second nature, but I don’t hope for that. I want to keep learning and growing to the point where I only have one website with all the tools needed to show my portfolio and from which to sell and license pictures. I want to stay a little bit uncomfortable.

Here’s one of the changes now

I really haven’t like the leggy drop caps all over my page. I can open with one and then use headers. Like the one just above. I can also add logos, badges, prices, features, and even food and drinks if that was appropriate. It isn’t. Don’t get your hopes up. I’m not going to peddle tacos.

All the news that fits

I’m not going to go on and on about the virus except to say, never let your guard down. In the Greater New Orleans area we haven’t had a death in four days. But, we’ve had about 300 new cases since yesterday. We have flattened the curve substantially. That’s great. Unfortunately, people are still arguing about a 1 ounce piece of paper or clothe. Wear your damn masks. It’s not the worse thing that’s ever going to happen to you. And, social distancing is still a thing. Remember, back in the days of dancing to rock ‘n roll music, you rarely came within six feet of your dance partner. Unless, the song was slow. Two moved like one.

The Picture

I’ve been on a roll with these kinds of gentle and simple shapes. I suppose my vision has returned. I can see fairly clearly. I don’t have to crop unless I want to give the picture some kind of extreme shape like today’s picture. My daily yield has been somewhat amazing because the all seeing dog doesn’t want to walk as much as she normally does. She’s feeling much better, but has a ways to go.

Stay safe. Enjoy every sandwich.

The Big Picture. I like it. One of the reasons I changed my blog a few months back was to get the images more front and center. After all, that is what we are blogging about – I think :-). I like the drop caps, but I don’t like their leggy look, as you note. I will keep trying to figure out how to get mine to look like I want them to. In the meantime, you headings are probably actually more effective. Best to you

I don’t know what the hell I’m blogging about. Actually, I have an idea about the leggy drop caps. It came from the top comment from Hedy. It struck me that when I was back in seminary school — no, wait, that’s an opening to a Doors song. What I meant was design classes. Drop caps are suppose to be no bigger than 3 lines of type. Instead of trying to shrink the drop cap what happens if we squeeze the leading between the lines. That is something I know we can do? I like the headings because i think my subject matter runs together. Stay safe.

Thank you. Design stuff mostly. A drop cap is that big letter that I use to start the text. Leggy means it is too tall and spindly. If you read my reply to Andy below, you know that you might have given me idea. I’ll test it. It seems that I’m the canary in the coal mine.
