A Brand New Start

A new year. A chance to do better. Another number on the calendar. A better number filled with hope. We hope.

I see it this way. Despite the Republicans in Congress trying to get in the way, we will have a new president. A president who seeks to unite, not divide. A capable experienced leader, not an incompetent, immoral selfish fool.

That’s something. That’s a good start right there.

With luck, we’ll start to manage the virus and get it under control sometime in 2021. That’s something too.

At that point it’s up to us. I’ve been working with a number of groups who want to make the new normal a better normal. I’ve discussed that in the past. There are changes upon changes that we can make. Pick something that is near and dear to you and volunteer to make it better.

Or, teach. Or, build. Or, design. Or, help .

Housekeeping, number one.

Storyteller has been wrapped into my website. Hopefully, it works as far as you need it to. There are unfinished components. My portfolios haven’t been reworked or are near complete. The about me section hasn’t been started.

You’d think with almost nothing but time, I’d get it done. Life got in the way. The all seeing cocker spaniel got another jaw infection. We think it’s under control, but we are waiting for biopsy reports. Never need lab work during a holiday.

I added a couple of new projects to the heap. I’m only in the planning stages now. My archiving project is underway but I still don’t know what to do with about 30 years of black and white film. I’ve asked a lot of ancient photographers. Nobody has an answer. Most of us just leave the film alone until we get lucky enough to have a request for old images.

Anyway.

Happy New Year.

A bunch’o pictures. Over on Instagram there are a lot of best nine projects. You can download an app and it does the work of selecting your best nine pictures for the year.

That worked fine, except that I made horizontal and vertical pictures, not the square ones that Instagram wants. When they are posted as a group, they are all square and very distorted.

Oh well.

I thought that I would do the same thing here, where I really live.

As I reviewed the best of my year I realized my best pictures were of trees.

So.

These are my best nine trees. Heh, heh.

Again, technology wants what it wants. A couple of those deep vertical pictures are really horizontals. You have to open them to see.

I’d change this next closing, but we aren’t done yet.

So.

Stay safe. Stay mighty. Wear your mask. Wash your hands. Keep your distance. Enjoy all the left over roast beef.

Happy New Year to you and Richard. There is a great piece in the Washington Post that discusses 2021. It is very positive. Worth reading. It’s not really the infection we fear. It’s what the underlying cause could be.
