Crayon Angels

Sometimes just the sky.

It’s a great day for experiments. Rainy. Kind of cold. We’ve had a lot of rain since yesterday. Supposedly, there are three or four more inches on the way.

So, I used a new app. I’ve used it once in the past. I’ll get into the technical aspects of that on the right hand column.

With all the rain, I needed something to counteract that on Storyteller. This picture just about does that. It’s bright. It’s gauzy. And, there’s a lot of yellow. The photograph, if that’s what this is, moves from darkness to light, at least for peoples who read from left to right.

Even thought there’s been a lot of stupidity as the pandemic seems to be getting managed, that’s what this picture might mean. We are headed into the light.

Or, if you are if you are cynical like me, moving into the light could mean the end. You know what people say when they have died and came back because it wasn’t their time yet.

I think I’ll choose the first option, mostly because I’m not ready to go just yet. There’s a lot of work to be done. And, I want to help.

I know that you want to help too.

Amiright?

So. The app. It turns the image into all sorts of colors. The original photograph was monochromatic, even with the golden arches in the background.

If that wasn’t enough, I added a setting from OnOne that made those globes, which are supposed to be bokeh.

It’s really not bokeh. Bokeh, an often misused Japanese word that Japanese people don’t use, refers to the quality of the out of focus parts of an image.

Usually, that’s found in the background. You want something that’s soft and creamy with some shape.

Once I completed that, added a border. I had something mid-way between a photograph and something else.

Beautiful. One picture with many stories. If you look at the darker left lower corner, that’s one story, maybe about being lost and not knowing which way to go. The brighter right upper part can hold a story about finding your way out of the darkness and living again! Never give up 🙂

I have a friend who says that her work is all one body, but it’s looking at it from different angles that creates new work. If I think about what you wrote, I made a pandemic picture. I hadn’t thought of it that way. Thank you.

Pandemic picture, I like that. We’re slowly getting there. This pandemic exposed more than just our immune systems, but we will make it thru this and learn from it.

I’ve said that we should come back from this different and better. I’m not sure we will.

Maybe not as much as we should but throughout these painful times we also had some accomplishments. Bad timing since the last 4 years were under the wrong leadership but we won. Like Captain America said” “When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree by the river of truth, and tell the whole world ‘No, You Move.”

Captain America? Wasn’t he finally killed in the last marvel comic with his name on it?

What did we win? From my dual career standpoint, we have a country that is fairly restricted in travel and gatherings which is just killing my music management work. We have a seriously divided country with some states trying to return to the Jim Crow years. I’ve had at least 30 friends die in New Orleans from various areas of the Mardi Gras culture who haven’t been mourned or celebrated properly and we still can’t gather. And, America is coming back with the three mass shootings in two weeks.

That sounds bleak doesn’t it? But, that is the truth. For sure, I made some progress on my nasty archives project. I also had some back problem work done and I can walk without pain. And, I have my two jabs which should protect me from the virus. OTH, I’m fairly lonely because I haven’t see my friends in a year. Zoom gatherings are fine, but …

Thank you very much. I used to say that I write out of self defense. Doing that helped teach me to write.
