Fork In The Road

All fall down.

F

inally. A leaf that looks like fall, or at least, that it fell. Sometimes around this place you have to be patient. That’s hard for me. I want it now even though I talk about letting the picture take you. Or, I say to stand in front of better stuff. What if there isn’t better stuff?

Maybe you stand near the tree and shake it. As long as the leaves fall by themselves what does it matter?

It matters to me.

I guess it’s early career training. Don’t touch anything. Don’t move anything. Don’t arrange anything.

Then, Instagram creeps in. Need a graphic device? How about an umbrella? No rain? No problem. No wetness on the street? Don’t worry about it. If not, copy somebody else’s work. Derivative? Sure, but fake until you make it.

Now that Facebook is Meta (data about data) I’m pretty sure that Instagram will do something silly. Both Meta and Meta junior are trying to compete with Tik Tok by forcing videos on us made by us.

For me, forcing me into some meta verse will be the death of social media. It’s hard enough living in the real world. Now, you want me to live in a fake world?

Sheesh.

Are there real fall leaves in the meta verse? Leaves that I can pick up and smell? Leaves that I can photograph?

It’s always something.

I’m having so much trouble keeping up with all the changes in what in my case is a very small world of technology and social media connecting. And I still have trouble! Each of my devices seems to give me some kind of a challenge, and I have quite a time with WP as well. There are times I just want to excuse myself from all of it, but I can’t seem to do that either! Facebook, or Meta, has lost my trust, so I can do without them. However, I am also frequently the last of my friends to know when someone has a problem or a success. I can’t imagine where it all will eventually lead. I probably don’t want to know!

I don’t want to live in a meta verse. The real universe is tough enough. Besides, the last thing I want is for Facebook to control my life. I use Facebook because I want to know what my friends are doing and as a business enhancer, but it’s only in self defense. Read tomorrow’s post on WP. I’m going to try something a little different. We’ll see. What I never want to be is a coder. My mind doesn’t work that way.

So true. I like video, I do on occasion my own videos, BUT photo stills have to stay. Its like digit versus hand drawn…has to be both or its a dull world. Plus the photo and the hand drawn do not depend on the computer to be managed. They can be independent and uncontrolled. It will lead to no good.

Photos do need a computer to manage them, even if it’s just a smart phone, which is nothing more than a small hand held computer.
