ll smiles. That’s what Mardi Gras is about. There is a certain level of joy and celebration that is always present during the parade season.
In the past few years, before the shut down last year, some weird things have happened. Most of that is caused by exuberance or stupidity, depending on who you talk to.
I suppose that’s to be expected. But, still, stay safe out there.
I made this picture as Krewe du Vieux was just starting to get organized, before the parade actually rolls. As you know, that’s where I like to work. There are pictures everywhere calling out to me.
That’s not to say there aren’t pictures along the route but the crowds are large and it’s pretty hard to get the street. Whenever I break through the crowd I usually get yelled at. I tell the yeller that I’ll be gone in 30 seconds. For some that’s way too long.
The idea is to make a few pictures and not upset anyone along the way. Sheesh. It’s Mardi Gras. Have a good time.
A wonderful picture that definitely captures the season.

Both of my kids are NOLA bound later this week, which makes their mother a nervous wreck.

I’m sorry to say that you should be. Too many murders this year. Not enough cops. We are down about 500. We have help from the State Troops, but still. That said, give them this… 505 280 8646 It looks like New Mexico. It’s my Katrina number. If they need anything at all, I’ll have their backs.

I hate to say this, but try to convince your kids not to come. There were two more killings today, one at the Costco that we use.
