his picture was made during one of the last times that I actually travelled around New Orleans. I went to the hospital to get my second vaccination against CoVid. Little did I know the trip and the injection was meaningless because of my “other” illness.
At least one good thing came out of this. Well, two. The first was this photograph. I developed it a number of ways, but this one seems to sum up the day. The other turned out to be something special. At this point in the pandemic everybody was still scared. So, we looked after each other. We were kind to each other. We gave up our spots in the line if somebody needed our place.
How cool was that? Very cool.
I learned that despite the polarization, the hatred and the violence, that we — as people — could come together when the chips were really down. And, that’s really something.

he photograph came as it usually does. I saw it. I pushed the button a couple of times and I was done. At least with the camera. But, it took me months to come to this point. First, I did my usual colorful thing. That didn’t look right so I tried again. And, again and again.
Eventually, I came to this version. Now, I was done.
Remember what I wrote about yesterday?
Magic and luck? The luck was immediate but the magic took some time.
