Winter Long

Winter in New Mexico is a lot of things. High in the mountains in places like Santa Fe and Taos winter is snowy almost all season long. In Albuquerque there are probaby one or two big snow storms during the winter, which causes havoc because there isn’t much snow removal equipment.

On the plains winter takes many forms. As I recall it was very cold when I made this picture. But, as you can see, there is no snow. But, wowie zowie, when snow arrives it comes in the form of a wind swept blizzard with snow blowing sideways. You don’t want to be out there. I certainly wasn’t.
