Until The End Of Time

Red streetcar, Canal Street, New Orleans.

In New Orleans, streetcars are for the end of time. The green cars that roll up St. Charles Avenue are based on the very earliest design. The red streetcars are modified with a few improvements, including one major improvement. Air conditioning. During New Orleans’ hot, steamy summers this is essential.

More essential when you consider that many locals use them to commute to work, to shop, to go out. They aren’t tourist attractions, although they are a great way to see the city for first timers. Or, second timers.

I have no idea why I’m closing 2022 with this picture. Maybe, because as they say, the past is prologue to the future. Even more surprisingly, I have no idea how I’m starting 2023. I suppose you’ll know when I know.

I’m pretty sure that social media is coming to an end. If not for many people, at least for me. If I cared as much as I write, you’d understand that my numbers are dismal. I’d like to think that I could correct that by doing things better.

That’s probably true.

But, truth be told, I haven’t seen some readers on all of my socials in years. They get bored. They drop out. They get involved with their real lives.

That doesn’t sound too bad to me.

Ray you really need to go to NPR’s Morning Edition Saturday and listen to the interview with singer and song writer Judith Owen. I think you’ll enjoy it. I did.
