Train Time

I think you know that I like trains. You also know that I like junk. So what could be better than a junk train? If memory serves I found this abandoned and mostly forgotten train on the eastern plains of New Mexico.

I have no idea why it was left there, but there are abandoned outdated trains left in many corners of the country. There’s even one on our farm property.

In the far corner of our property is an old freight station built in 1834, which served the Confederate army as they moved food around Virginia during the Civil War.

The tracks were cut off from the mainline in the 1930’s. We have a station, a water tower, four 1920s era freight cars and engine house with two old steam engines inside.

I’m a happy camper. What little boy doesn’t want his own train set?

Passenger car.
