Contrasts

Exit sign.
The moon and trees.

Brand new work. How about that?

The exit sign is slightly newer than the moon. Both are experimental. Both are layered. Both were made using an iPhone14 Pro. They say that the best camera is the one that you have with you. My phone is always with me. I’n not someone who walks around with my head buried in it. I like to see what I’m going to hit.

Everything that I do, I can from that phone. If I didn’t need a bigger workspace when we tour, I’d just carry the phone. But, I really need to see work laid out so I can analyze it a little. That little bitty monitor on the phone just won’t cut it. However, in a pinch I can actually design and publish Storyteller from my phone.

The exit picture might be a portfolio piece. My instinct tells me that it is. It’s very different from the work I usually make. The tree picture, not so much.

I got it stuck in my head that I wanted to publish two contrasting photographs, so that’s what I did. It could be a case of forcing them a little too much. I try not to do that. Just as I let the picture guide me, I try to do the same with design.

This page breaks a lot of normal personal conventions. I’m not a fan of square pictures because I think they are wishy washy, as if I didn’t know which way I want the picture to move your eyes. Yet, I published two of them.

How about that?

Thank you. I like “Exit” well enough to put it in my portfolio. Mostly, I just use an iPhone14 Pro these days unless I’m photographing for money.

        Money justifies upgrading… 😉
